Job Description

About the Role

This role as a member of The New York Times tax team includes tax accounting and compliance oversight for the organization’s global operations. We ask that you have strong project management skills, together with solid tax research, planning and tax technology abilities and will report directly to the Vice President, Tax.

Responsibilities:

Member of the New York Times tax team, supporting tax accounting and compliance functions for global operations

Prepare/review US tax provision and compliance including confirming book/tax differences using latest tax automations

Experience in different tax technologies to access and maximize the efficiency of tax processes

Support financial reporting for tax, including domestic and international income tax, FIN48, cash tax analysis, and balance sheet activities.

Manage and coordinate tax audits

Foster collaborative teamwork with tax, finance, and IT teams to implement tax technology strategies that optimize tax operations, mitigate risk, and shift tax capabilities to value added work.

Basic Qualifications:

7+ years of tax experience related to financial reporting and compliance with an interest in tax technology and process management.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a combination of equivalent education and work experience required

In-depth knowledge of tax reporting under ASC 740.

Experience adapting to different software systems.

History of technical and strategic competence

Preferred Qualifications:

You will have a mix of Public Accounting and private experience.

2+ years of Tax Technology design and implementation experience

CPA

Master’s degree

Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills

Proficient in CorpTax, One Source Tax Provision, and Workday Finance

The annual base pay range for this role is between $155,000.00 and $175,000.00.
