Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse - Circulator for the Cardiac Operating Room (OR) Team!

Up to $15,000 Sign on Bonus available for qualified candidates and relocation assistance can be provided.

Will consider RN with: Operating room experience (General or Cardiac)

a RN with 1-2 years ICU experience, or 2 years cardiac specialty experience.

This position is full time rotating shift.

There

will be an on-call requirement and a once-a-month weekend call required. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes.

The hospital sits on the Eastern Virginia Medical Campus which serves as the primary teaching institution. Sentara Norfolk General and the Heart Hospital offers Transplant Services: Heart, Kidney, and Pancreas. We are a Certified Stroke Center and the only Level 3 Epilepsy Center in the area.

Cardiac Operating Room Department Overview:

We are made up of five operating rooms with one being a hybrid OR. We manage 8+ OR cases daily. Nurses work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, OR attendant, Surgical Techs, Surgical Assistants, Perfusionists, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants.

The cardiovascular operating room nurse works as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat open-heart (cardiovascular) patients. Prepares OR Room, ensures equipment and medications are available for the operating room team.

Reviews patient's chart. Assesses patient upon admission and through procedure Prep and positions patient in OR Administers medication, monitor vital signs during procedure.

Document's information. Provides a call report to the ICU floor nurse after the surgical procedure.

Prepares OR for the next case.

Education:

Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor's degree RN, or master's degree RN.

All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire and ACLS within 1 year of hire.

Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications:

N-2YR - RN-Associate's Degree (Required), N-3YR - RN-Diploma (Non-degree) (Required), N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required), N-6YR - RN-Master's Level Degree (Required), N-DN - RN-Doctorate Level Degree

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Registered Nurse (RN) Multi State - Nursing License - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP), Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - North Carolina, Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
