SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced

Transmission Line Electrical Superintendent

for our

Power Delivery Services Group . It is crucial to have experience and the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, enthusiastic, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. As a superintendent, you will be responsible for providing coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a particular area of discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate work projects within the electrical scope of the building siteEnsure the high-quality installation of electrical portions of the project, including underground cabling, overhead lines, and substation constructionProvide drawing, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the engineering team, verifying that the quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship conforms to the specifications and updates of the contract documentsPartner with the Sr. Superintendent in formwork selection, equipment sizing, and site utilization planWork with Sr. Superintendent in the development of project schedules and updates, and the creation of 3 3-week look-aheadEnsure work teams have needed resources and supportSupervise and ensure quality control of the work team, including self-performed and subcontracted workManage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the connection of the project power grid to the existing distribution systemSupervise the installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cablesAttend and participate in project meetings, and provide liaison between field engineers and contractors or craft workers to ensure electrical components of the project comply with drawings and specificationsEnsure correct implementation of the Mortenson Project Quality Plan (PQP) and assist in the development and updating of the project control logs and QC documentation; assist with the development of electrical Integrated Work Instructions (IWIs)Oversight of electrical sub-contractors

Review/monitor the subcontractor's procurement of electrical resources, methods, staffing, look-ahead schedules, and coordination with other site activitiesWork with engineering staff to ensure plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs are transmitted to subcontractors accurately and timelyMonitor Safety, Quality, and Efficiency of subcontracted work on every projectCoach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendentsEnsure crews have resources and support

Ensure the implementation, practice, and enforcement of the Mortenson Zero Injury Program

Produce various reports; including Sequence of Operation instructions for equipment use and energization of circuits, and written Methods of Operation (MOPs)Establish and nurture a teamwork environmentProvide work direction and performance evaluationsIdentify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as neededDevelop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunitiesManage open shop and union issuesMaintain relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, et al.Manage site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvementQUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalentMinimum 12 years experience working with high and medium voltage equipment and cable, installation of transmission/'collection lines, and substation construction.Minimum 13 years of supervisory experienceProficiency in the installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of high and medium-voltage cablesKnowledgeable about current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble, and other methods of cable and equipment testingPossess working knowledge of electrical drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and vaults for distribution and collection systems, underground and pad mount transformer usage, SCADA systems used in the power industry, transmission line construction, testing and commissioning, and substation construction, testing and commissioningCurrent driver's licenseWorking knowledge of the latest NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and OSHA codes and standards and industry safety requirements and methodsAbility to gain and maintain a basic understanding of Wind Turbine construction to ensure proper code requirements and installation methodsStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksPossess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesMicrosoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelProven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
