Overview:
Kimley-Horns Phoenix office is seeking a Power Studies Engineer with 4+ years experience to join their Electrical team. With a focus on serving clients within the power delivery and renewable energy sectors, the Power Studies Engineer will act as a technical expert in the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems. This is not a remote position.Responsibilities:Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, and write reports for power delivery or generation projectsAssist with project design, specifications, and plans supportReview work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standardsStudies performed may include (per candidate experience):Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKMLoad Flow / Reactive Power AnalysisThermal Ampacity studies using software like AmpCalc or CYMCAPGrounding studies using WinIGS, CDEGS, or SKM Ground MatTransient studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, or PSLFHarmonic studies using ETAP or transient softwareRelay setting development using SEL AcSELeratorPartner with the electrical team to create calculations anddrawings for power delivery and/or renewable energy projectsContinually gain knowledge in industryQualifications:
4+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC1+ years' project management experienceEIT certification or path to move towards certification is preferredCYMCAP, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PSCAD, WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferredUnderstanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologiesGeneral understanding of engineering and energy systemsLoad Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodologyProficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)Proficient with Microsoft OfficeAbility to work and manage several project teams concurrentlyThe ability to work independently or in a team environment effectivelyThe ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
