Additional information about LSI is available at www.lsicorp.com We are looking for an Applications Specialist to support our Graphics Team out of our Houston, TX Location. SUMMARY Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and labor routers for production and entering these in an MRP system. Work in conjunction with production to manufacture products that are both cost-effective and of excellent quality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned. Estimating via RFQ (Request for Quote) of printed products, technology graphics, and architectural graphics. Prepare simulated costs and value engineering cost reductions in JDE as required. Manipulate and dimensionally position customer graphic designs for printed product applications. Setup bill of materials and routing instructions for product manufacturing. Establish part numbers and edit existing bill of materials and routers. Maintain production standards and best practice applications. Scrubbing of production setups prior to Work Order release. (Scrubbing is the process of reviewing work orders for accuracy and needs for material substitutions in an effort to reduce cost on a job-by-job basis.) Implements engineering change requests for the printed product segment as required. Performs first article inspection from a quality and correctness standpoint per its intended application. Make any adjustments or changes necessary or desired to AutoCAD drawings. Create layouts for proofing of product applicability in support of product installation. Review existing production designs and offer suggestions that would result in cost reductions and/or improved manufacturing processes. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Perform other duties as assigned. Screen/Digital Printing, AutoCAD experience is a plus. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE One year certificate from college or technical school; 3 years' experience in MRP data entry and product estimating; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Clear understanding of MRP systems, and estimating practices in a manufacturing environment. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of plane and solid geometry and basic algebra. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to work in a team environment with initiative and close level of supervision. Ability to comply with safety policies. Mechanically inclined. Ability to make effective business decisions. Ability to perform at a proficient level in two-dimensional computer-aided design using AUTODESK AutoCAD.
