The General Sales Manager is responsible for profitability in both the new and used vehicle departments and for customer retention. To achieve this, they must effectively manage sales personnel, have a strong knowledge of the market, and an in-depth understanding of all sales departments' financial data as well as strong customer relationship skills.
Recruit, hire, train, and oversee a team of automotive salespeopleCoach salespeople on best practices for closing more vehicle deals and provide advice and guidance to improve sales performanceOversee all activities occurring in the vehicle showroomSet sales goals, track progress, and lead team to achieve and exceed those quotasForecast sales for upcoming months and quarters and compile the necessary reports for dealership management to reviewCoordinate and lead all regular sales meetings with the sales staffDevelop and manage a CRM platform to retain customers and seek out new prospective salesMaintain a strong focus on satisfaction of all customers and steps in to answer customer questions and issues when requiredOversee standards for displaying and merchandising both new and used vehicles as well as reviewing and initialing all promotions before they are finalized.Coordinate the appropriate supply of new and used vehicles and ordering/acquiring vehicle inventory accordingly.Work directly with the general manager on making recommendations on both short and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans.Attend to customer complaints, ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained.Audit all appraisals of trade-in vehicles.Requirements
Minimum of 2 years in a Sales ManagerFinance (F&I) experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsOutgoing and service-oriented attitudeKnowledge of inventory control and managementExcellent leadership skills with a passion for developing employeesKeen attention to detail with a commitment to solving complex problemsValid Driver's License with clean, insurable, driving record
Working Environment & Physical Demands
Duties are performed throughout the dealer premises, both indoors and outdoors and on customer test drives. Work includes frequent movement around the company facilities and the outdoor car lot to interact with customers and other departments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts will include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
