Job Description*Up to $30k Sign on Bonus Eligible*Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the Respiratory Care process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective, efficient patient care delivery towards the achievement of desired patient outcomes.QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of an associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of one of the education requirements set by the NBRC. Respiratory Care experience preferred. Active RRT credentialed by NBRC and active Registered Respiratory Care licensure by New Jersey board of Respiratory Care required. Current BLS (American Heart Association) required. ACLS/PALS certification preferred.Position ResponsibilitiesObtains required assessments & collects needed data: Assesses physical condition, psychosocial status, risk factors and learning needs. Accurately completes assessments within specified time frames. Documents reasons for delayed or incomplete portions of data collection. Identifies patient's problems/needs. Identifies & implements safety practices for patients at risk. Reports abnormal clinical findings or changes in condition to physician.Contributes to the development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care : Collaborates with other health care providers to establish treatment goals and patient outcome. Considers age milestones and developmental stages in planning of care. Provides input regarding patient's strengths, limitations and learning needs. Evaluates effectiveness of cardiopulmonary interventions and actions: Reassesses patient's needs related to current clinical status & desired outcomes. Revises plan of care as goals change or time frames are extended.Provides timely, adequate teaching to patient and family: Works collaboratively with others to develop a multidisciplinary teaching plan. Identifies barriers to learning, consulting other health care team members as needed. Reinforces physicians teaching by explaining plan of care, tests and procedures. Educates patient to medications, dosage, frequency and common side effects. Progressively implements teaching by providing time for discussion and feedback. Assesses & documents patient/family response & level of understanding. Interacts with patients and families in a supportive and positive manner. Consistently documents healthcare assessments, interventions & outcomes: Documents in a clear, concise & legible manner. Documents in an accurate, timely & complete manner. Documents date, time, signature & title with each entry. Assists with orientation & on the job training of new staff/students: Serves as mentor and resource person and by sharing knowledge and experience and providing support & verbal encouragement. Routine patient care activities: Performs oxygen therapy. Performs and documents routine medication delivery, IS, CPT, and airway management.Diagnostic Testing: Performs and documents ABG's. Performs troubleshooting techniques of ABG analyzers. Performs and documents EKG's. Performs and documents Holter Monitors. Performs basic FVL PFT's. Performs complete PFT's. Performs and documents Pulse Oximetry. Acute Care Activities: Sets up/monitors invasive and noninvasive ventilators. Performs extubation. Cleans equipment. Monitors vents during ambulance transports.Performs other tasks and duties within the department or extraneous to, as directed by the Respiratory Therapy leadership.*Up to $30k Sign on Bonus Eligible*
