The

Systems Network Engineer

is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting a company's computer systems. Installs and maintains existing Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and network segments.

This position is located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Requirements

Provides Tier III Support for LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and Intranet systems.Maintains integrity of the network, servers, and security. Makes recommendations for future upgrades.Maintains system efficiency; analyzes and isolates issues, fixes complex problems reported by users.Modifies or implements new information technology infrastructure as directed by the CIO.Administration, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting includes, but is not limited to: rackmount equipment, servers, desktop computers, laptops, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, wireless access points, and smartphones.Diagnoses issues pertaining to LAN or WAN networks. Engages telecommunications providers for support and escalates as needed. Performs network address assignments.Responsible for software deployment, security updates, and patches on servers and workstations.Responsible for hardware and software RFPs as directed; support and licensing contract renewals.Researches and recommends solutions to issues or requests for new services; evaluates and modifies systems as required.Monitors and maintains system performance. Identifies and implements solutions to performance and/or reliability problems.Provides internal support to departments and fields escalations from the Help Desk. Provides cross-training to the Help Desk on new SOPs that are developed in-tandem with Engineering and IT Operations.Updates documentation by developing policies, procedures, and technical manuals; maintains network diagrams.High School degree is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience with the design and deployment of Microsoft Windows Server, UNIX, or Linux as well as deploying and monitoring firewalls, routers, and managed switches in business environments.

Cisco, VMWare & Unix expertise required.Proven record of support to a small-to-medium (100+ employees) organization.
