Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM)

trained physician to join our growing team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) located in

Danville, Pa! This program is undertaking the last frontier of pediatric emergency medicine - providing expert acute pediatric care to a rural community, close to home. At Geisinger, our innovative ideas are inspired by the communities, patients, & families we serve. We do things differently to reach our unique patient population in central, south-central & northeast PA with high-quality pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) services. Our revolutionary approaches to local community outreach include tools like telemedicine, leveraging a robust EHR for pediatric-specific decision support to reach a previously PEM underserved population. Geisinger Medical Centers 45-bed Emergency Department cares for over 50,000 patients per year, including nearly 10,000 pediatric patients. Our brand new 9-bed pediatric zone was designed with babies, children, teens, and their families in mind. Using nitrous sedation, we do our best to remain an ouch-less ED, and with over 50 certified PEM nurses throughout the system, quality, safety, and comfort are our top priorities. Children admitted from our ED are cared for in Geisingers Janet Weis Childrens Hospital, a 90-bed, 5-floor on-site childrens hospital that includes a 14-bed PICU and 41-bed NICU. Our childrens hospital provides a comprehensive range of pediatric services including a full array of medical and surgical subspecialties. Geisinger is seeking candidates with superior clinical and interpersonal skills and a strong desire to participate in program development, medical education, and research. Candidates must be Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship-trained. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the regions only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, womens health (in the Womens Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics. The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus. GEISINGER JANET WEIS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL: Located in Danville, Pa., Geisinger Janet Weis Childrens Hospital partners with pediatricians to provide personalized specialty care to children when they need it from birth through young adulthood. Our specialty-trained pediatric doctors and nurses provide expertise in more than 30 medical and surgical disciplines, treating common to the most complex pediatric health conditions. From our neonatal intensive care unit (level IV NICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and dedicated pediatric emergency room to our inpatient unit and outpatient clinics throughout central and northeast Pennsylvania, our pediatric care team is dedicated to making exceptional pediatric care available to every child in every community we serve.
