A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

As a Construction Superintendent, you are essential to the success of our projects. Under your efficient supervision, each job is completed on time and with the high quality our company is known for. Each day, you come to work eager to advance your current project. Relying on your strong understanding of land development, you hold project meetings, coordinate with the city to obtain permits, schedule subcontractors, and procure materials.

Often, you travel to the construction site where you oversee the surveyors in their tasks, manage field crews, and work with trade contractors to fulfill their duties. With warm professionalism, you resolve any concerns with OSHA inspectors and establish a strong working rapport with our contractors. The relationships you form throughout the day are one of the things you enjoy about your job. You also love the challenge of managing multiple tasks at a time. You're good at it, and you love knowing that you play a key role in helping our business thrive!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENTHigh school diploma or equivalent5+ years of experienceStrong understanding of OSHA requirements and the ability to work well with OSHA inspectorsStrong understanding of mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural reasoningProficiency in the use of a computerKnowledge about safety regulations and a willingness to complyWillingness to travelA CDL or equipment training is preferred. Willingness to travel in market based on project location (O)Able to work in all elements of the outdoor environment which include the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. (A)Able to access all areas of the jobsite including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, elevation changes, etc. (F)Capable of working in physical positions that may include kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc. (A)Must be able to move, carry, or position items weighing up to 75 pounds. (F)Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. (F)Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels. (O)Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. (F)Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations. (O)Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. (A)Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. (A)Must have the ability to lift and carry parcels, packages, and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. (F)While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. (A)

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works a

full-time schedule

with travel about 80% of the time. Project locations are within 5 hours of Sioux Falls.
