Neighbors

The Data Science team at Nextdoor is responsible for design and oversight of product experiments, complex analysis to drive company and product strategy, and deploying online and offline models to a production environment. The Data Science group is made up of people from a diverse set of backgrounds and perspectives, trained in fields as wide-ranging as psychology, geology, physics, and statistics. We are the mathematical decision scientists for their product development organization and play an active and collaborative role in building and improving the product.

Throughout your internship, you'll be immersed in Nextdoor's dynamic community and attend events that promote your professional and personal development, beginning with a thorough onboarding process. You'll join team meetings, pair-programming sessions, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), training and workshops, social events, coffee chats with our leadership team, a global volunteer day, and more! Impact

You'll Make

Over 12 weeks as a data science intern at Nextdoor, you'll own the research, analysis, presentation, and productionization of a stand-alone project or model that directly impacts our product strategy. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and other data scientists to deliver a meaningful project in an area like content moderation, ads allocations, or growth & notifications. You'll be partnered with one of Nextdoor's data scientists for the summer - we're so excited to have you!What You'll Bring To The TeamCurrently pursuing a quantitative degree, with graduation expected between Fall 2025 and Summer 2026Comfort working in Python or R, including common scientific computing packages and data science tools such as numpy, pandas, and scikit-learnComfort with methods, tools, and packages for statistical modeling and machine learningExperience formulating, running, and sharing complex analysesExperience architecting, debugging, and executing SQL queriesExcellent written and oral communication, including ability to effectively communicate complexity to a diverse group of stakeholdersCuriosity about how things work, from both a business and technical perspectiveA collaborative spirit and a commitment to communityBonus PointsWork or academic experience related to social or community-based productsWork or academic experience related to small businesses and marketplacesWork or academic experience related to advertising and auction systemExperience testing and evaluating the impact of network effectsKnowledge of web applications and service-oriented architecturePerks & Benefits

The salary for this role is $3,467 paid semi-monthly, plus a semi-monthly housing stipend of $1,000.
