The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Network Software Developer-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $77,000.00-$125,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

The Modeling & Simulation Enterprise Applications (MSEA) product suite supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.

A typical day as a Network Software Developer-Journeyman may include:

Develops software for an advanced synthetic training environment that will become integrated into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threatsSupports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrationsDemonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software designEvaluates and reviews C++ language code programming using C++, Python 3 and HTMLDevelops parallel processes, threading and process communicationsDevelops Web-based applications using development technologyCollaborates with team members to design future enhancementsMust-haves:

BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering: Degrees in Engineering, Math and Physics may qualify with at least 1 year of C++ experience3 years of relevant work experienceExperience with sockets (unicast, multicast, TCP) and general network programming, including byte-swapping and serialization of dataFamiliarity with time-series analysisExperience with scripting, database and programming languages such as C++The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security ClearanceDesired Skills:

An understanding of network protocols such as Data Distributions Service (DDS), High-Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)Experience with scripting, database and programming in Python 3 and HTMLExperience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) effortsSkills crucial to success at AMEWAS, Inc.:

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
