Your Impact:

As an

OSP Telecom Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in the successful design and implementation of Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications networks across New York. This includes working with both copper and fiber infrastructure, covering aerial, buried, and underground network construction. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with municipal officials, utility companies, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and timely project completion. Your expertise will directly contribute to the growth and reliability of our telecommunications infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities:

Meet with Township, City, County, and State officials across 39 exchanges to discuss road projects, requiring travel up to 3.5 hours one way.Locate and identify Frontier facilities to evaluate the impact of construction projects alongside project managers and municipal engineers.Collaborate with other utilities to develop relocation plans that minimize conflicts and avoid project delays.Field/Design OSP BAU work orders will include service orders, sub-divisions, road move projects, dark fiber MDU, copper/fiber, aerial/buried/underground work, and permitting. Updates to Frogs (CAD). Varasset updates.Coordinate with local power companies and communication providers on Frontier-owned poles for make-ready work, replacements, and customer service requests.Prepare and submit permit applications to Township, County, State, Department of Natural Resources, Railroad, Pipeline, and other relevant authorities.Work with local SSP Contractors to ensure construction projects are completed on time and within budget.Address DOR (plant damaged repair) requests by adjusting cable counts or initiating capital projects as needed.Conduct PDR (plant damaged repair) field visits to assess project needs and apply for necessary permits, optimizing solutions for commercial tickets involving copper and/or fiber.Conduct site surveys, create capital projects for Cell Towers, and manage CIAC reimbursements.Support Field and Central Office technicians by investigating and resolving PUC (Public Utility Company) complaints.Work closely with Contract Engineers to ensure project alignment with business and client needs.Specific duties may vary or evolve based on business and client needs.

Core Experience:

3-5+ years of experience in copper and fiber-optic telecommunications engineering, including broadband design and OSP construction.Minimum of 5 years in network engineering or related fields, with a strong focus on fiber record management, cable counts, and permit processing.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate with municipal officials, contractors, and internal teams.Skilled in using Frontier mapping and design software/tools.In-depth understanding of permitting processes and requirements.Ability to travel as required to meet project needs.Experience with FROGS, design building/entrance cables, and OSP Telecom Construction. Must live in or near Kearney, NE

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 Salary/DOE
