Description

This is a co-op position which requires commiting to three rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: spring, 2nd rotation: fall, 3rd rotation: summer).

The student will be exposed to new product content, involved in projects, and engage in collaborative department work. The intent is to develop the candidate to lead their own project if possible. The Co-op will support the launch and change coordinators with activities to verify the bill of material and demand logic changes for vehicle production. The student's projects will involve development and optimizing of data analytical systems to improve processes and reporting.

The Co-op should expect to support and improve the following:Support Launch and Change Coordinators with engineering changes:

Create, manage, and validate component overviews for specific parts of the carContribute to Test Car BOM (Bill of Material) validation, where the new design changes are verified (i.e. the correct part is systematically steered to the correct vehicle)Support the coordination of Line Trials, where new parts are physically tested in the production environmentInvestigate design topics through data analysis

Report generation and maintenanceMajor projects in this role focus on efficiency improvements and data accuracy, that could include:

Implementing solutions to improve efficiency in the processesComplete various process mapping exercises (e.g., process flow, swim lane, etc.)Create content overview for different vehicle modulesFacilitates workshops to define the current process and outline areas of opportunity

-NOTE: most of the processes within TX-511/512 are systematic and information based, so many of the improvement opportunities lie in systematic process changes

Qualifications

Pursuing a BS or Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management, MIS (Management Information Systems), Computer Science or other relevant degrees.MS Excel and Office Suite knowledgeStrong computer aptitude (ability to learn BMW Group systems, SAP, SQL, etc.)Project ManagementPlanning and Organizational skills; able to manage many projects and responsibilities in a structured mannerAbility to work independently and show initiativeVBA (or Python) and JAVA skills preferredKnowledge or experience of manufacturing processes and workflows preferredGerman language is a plusPossess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for Co-op positions.Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.THE WORK TERM DATES ARE 01/13/2025-05/16/2025
