The University of Miami UHealth, Lennar Foundation Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for an Otolaryngology RN 2 . Performs telephone triage and ambulatory otolaryngology nursing care for patients with cancer and other complex illnesses; to address symptom management, follow-up and coordination of care through collaboration with licensed independent practitioners (including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants etc.). Our goal is to enhance the quality of health care through immediate patient access, education and communication. As the continuity point of health care, each patient is triaged to ensure that the appropriate health care team member meets the patient's needs. The telephone triage nurse reports directly to the Nursing Manager/Supervisor. Triage phone calls (including returning calls, follow up calls regarding patient status, etc.). Symptom management by phone assessment using nursing skills and knowledge within scope of practice, and in coordination with primary care team. Determine urgency of need for evaluation by LIP or routing to emergency services. Process refills from LIP, including pending prescriptions to LIP for signature. Communication with administrative staff for clinic schedule needs for urgent visits. Response to patient's phone call and needs in appropriate time frame. Obtain relevant medical records, lab tests, notes etc. for review. Assess educational level and provide patient teaching appropriate to that patient according to need. Log calls in patients chart and on documentation sheet. Minimum requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN, and a minimum of one year RN experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

Certification and Licensing:Valid Florida RN License & BLS required

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience

Patient safety is a top priority.
