Senior Consultant: State Building Codes Advocacy Support

2050 Partners is seeking a mission-driven Senior Consultant to join our team in a fully remote role. In this role, you will directly contribute to the execution and management of decarbonization consulting projects that contribute to the development of future GHG-reducing building codes and appliance standards. We are looking for team-members who are passionate about understanding clients' pain points and delivering pragmatic solutions; dedicated to our purpose of shortening the path to carbon neutrality; and enthusiastic about growing with our dynamic consulting firm.

We are seeking a candidate with diverse expertise so that we can align strengths and interests with different projects. Initial assignments will include one or more of the following project areas:State building codes advancement and advocacy (energy and green codes in multiple states)National model building codes advancement and advocacy (ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC)State and national appliance standards and test procedure advancement and advocacyDecarbonization initiatives and researchResponsibilities include:

Be a trusted advisor for our clients by providing pragmatic advice based on defensible data and analysisOversee and contribute to multiple projects including technical research, client engagement, subcontractor management, and external stakeholder engagementDevelop Codes and Standards Enhancement (CASE) reports that cover the market analysis, analysis of per unit energy savings, analysis of the statewide energy savings, cost-effectiveness analysis, and proposed code languageConduct stakeholder outreach as part of the development of the code change proposalsCoordinate research with efforts from state programs and independent entitiesEnsure high-quality deliverables, including reports and presentationsContribute to business development and proposal writingDesired Qualifications and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field(s) is required, Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering is preferred. A advanced degree such as masters or doctorate can substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience.8+ years relevant experience, experience as a process engineer or plant engineer is a plus .Consulting experience and mindset: comfort contributing to complex projects with a problem-solving orientation that prioritizes client needsAbility to learn and apply new skills across interdisciplinary fields, including technology assessments, engineering, economics, statistics, and policyHighest ethical standardsProject management track recordAbility to collaborate well with people at all levels within an organizationGreat initiative, creativity, and curiosity; work well both on your own and as part of teamExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong attention to detailConfidence, enthusiasm, humility, and discretionWillingness for periodic travelDesire and ability to work remotelyDesired Experience:

Experience in industrial sector such as engineering services, commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy auditing, capital energy efficiency projectsExperience with one or more of the industry standard analysis tools: Excel, relational database (e.g., SQL), Tableau, Stata, SAS, MATLAB, R, or python.Experience analyzing major industrial sub-systems such as refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, fans/blowers, pumping, steam, process hot water, chilled water, or conveyor technology.Experience with the advocacy and code development for state energy codes, such as California Energy Code (Title 24 Part 6)Experience related to national model codes and local building codes (e.g., , ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, local reach/stretch codes)Familiar with topics related to industrial energy, GHG, cap and trade or other code compliance.Experience related to national and state appliance standards, test procedures, and specifications (e.g., DOE, California Title 20, ENERGYSTAR)
