Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, social service, public relations or related fieldTwo years experience in human services fieldExperience working with volunteers preferredActive client contacts within the past two yearsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of careAbility to work on an interdisciplinary teamAbility to work a flexible scheduleAbility to work well with others in a supervisory roleWillingness to work with patients/families regardless of race, color, creed, age or sexual orientation. Must respect their beliefs and philosophy with an attitude of openness and receptivenessTRAINING-Initial And Ongoing:

Complete Hospice volunteer/staff training programComplete Hospice orientation programObtain eight hours of continuing education per year, including mandatory safety in-serviceAttend minimum of six staff meetings per yearDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in orienting new team membersParticipate in quality improvement programAdhere to strict confidentialityAdhere to safety policy and practicesComplete employee time record accurately per policyCooperate with all government agencies and outside auditorsAssist with updating policies and procedures as appropriateComplete annual TB screeningAssure all license, certifications, continuing education information and any other required documentation are submitted to human resources and kept currentMaintain up-to-date documentation required and specified in Hospice policy and procedurePerform other duties assigned by supervisorCoordinate program for recruiting, screening, training, assigning and evaluating volunteersAssist with organizing and conducting volunteer/staff training programs on a regular basisDevelop and implement appropriate continuing education programs for volunteersProvide on-going support and encouragement for all volunteers to enhance participationDevelop new and improved roles of services for volunteersProvide messages/reminders through Phonetree SystemCoordinate publication of monthly activity calendars and newsletters for volunteers/chaplainsSupervise volunteers and assure adherence to all policies and proceduresParticipate in Hospice staff development and information exchange with other health professionalsAct as a resource person for both internal and community organizationsComplete all patient/family volunteer assignments as specified in policy and proceduresAct as liaison between volunteer and staffSchedule volunteers to assist with special projectsCoordinate annual volunteer recognition eventAssist bereavement coordinator with planning volunteer roles in annual memorial serviceMaintain volunteer personnel files in accordance with policyMaintain accurate records of all volunteer hoursReview volunteer section of monthly cost reportParticipate in coordination of annual Unifour volunteer conferenceComplete volunteer award nominationsBe available daily to provide direction to volunteer support specialistReview timesheets for accuracy and approveCoordinate continuing education for volunteer staffComplete reports and other statistical data as requestedInterview, hire and supervise volunteer support specialistComplete direct report required performance evaluations with clinical competency evaluationsPHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Visual acuity to read written documentation and computer tasksSpeech and hearing skills necessary for telephone interaction and face to face contactAbility to sit as required to perform dutiesAbility to stand, bend and lift an average of 30 poundsManual dexterity with the ability to manipulate office equipment and complete written documentationAbility to walk, squat, kneel, climb and balanceSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have an automobile with required insurance coverage and a state driver's license
