Major Gifts Officer

SUMMARY:
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for supporting and implementing the major gift strategy, with a fundraising goal of $1MM, and managing a Donor portfolio of 125-150 prospects. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Strategy & Development and is responsible for executing new and innovative strategies that focus on major and multi-year gifts of $25K DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualify, develop, and maintain year-round relationships with a portfolio of 100-150 individual gift donors or prospects to grow immediate funding, long term funding and planned gifts. Serve as a primary fundraiser along with EVP, and Director of Development (DOD) building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity. Grow annual revenue from individual donors through relationship-based fundraising and strategic moves management, with an emphasis on long-term stewardship and engagement. Create individual engagement, stewardship plans and giving goals for each donor based on giving history, relationship and the organization's knowledge of the donor's giving potential. With assistance from EVP and VP, Marcom consistently refresh Case for Support to be used in donor solicitation meetings. Provide regular updates to EVP/DOD regarding Major Gift solicitations, moves management strategies and requests for leadership engagement/stewardship. Prepare for regular portfolio review meetings and moves management discussions in partnership with EVP. Work with the EVP and DOD to develop unique giving opportunities in the context of current campaigns, and to identify any needed collateral. Recruit and steward individual donors by building year-round engagement activities to maximize revenue, build donor loyalty. Set up meetings for EVP and DOD to focus on strategic stewardship of donors. Collaborate with Database Manager to implement prospect management strategies utilizing CRM Identify and communicate potential opportunities and/or relationships to increase Chapman Partnership's ability to raise funds and provide services. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree plus six (6+) years of experience in fundraising, awareness and cultivating experience. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the non-profit sector and proven track record of fundraising, building awareness, fostering relationships, running programs, including capital campaigns, major gifts, annual gifts, direct mail, corporate philanthropy, planning events, developing strategies, and closing major gifts. CFRE preferred. Donor portfolio (moves management) experience/knowledge is a plus. Demonstrated ability to facilitate donor solicitations and successful donor pipeline management. Experience working with CRM databases, specifically Raiser's Edge preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Nonprofit experience and a successful track record in fundraising program management. Ability to work collaboratively to ensure strong departmental structure. Ability to build and cultivate relationships; corporations, foundations, individuals, and community leaders. Knowledgeable in direct mail, planned giving initiative and special events. Adherence to deadlines, strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Experience in team-based, cross functional work environments with effective and respectful communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
