Carthage R-9 School District JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Plumber Responsible to: Director of Maintenance, Assistant Superintendent for Business Summary: Responsible for overseeing, maintenance and repairing district plumbing piping and associated equipment. Specific duties include repairing, rebuilding and replacing piping for domestic water, sewer, natural gas, boiler and lines and equipment, pneumatic lines and equipment, storm water, kitchen equipment, water coolers and drinking fountains and assist outside subcontractors to in these capacities as required. Job Goal: To ensure that Plumbing systems are properly designed, installed and functioning in such a manner that ensures safe and efficient operations throughout the district. Qualifications: Must be clean, neat and professional. Must be a self-starter and have the initiative to work steadily and effectively without immediate supervision. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a routine basis. Minimum physical requirements include lifting, standing, sitting, squatting, walking, working while lying on back or side, in close quarters, underground, or high elevations. Must comply with all Carthage R-9 policies and regulations and with all local, state and Federal laws and codes. Plumbing certification. Formal training in sewer piping, domestic water piping, cooling water piping, boiler piping, natural gas and propane piping, general plumbing maintenance and repair. 3 to 5 years work related experience. Basic Computer knowledge. General Responsibilities: Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair boiler and steam systems. Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair pneumatic systems and air compressors. Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair gas lines, water lines, sewer lines, and storm drain systems. Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair restroom plumbing, including fixtures, leaking faucets and stools. Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair kitchen equipment including dishwashers, garbage disposals, steam cookers, steam tables and booster heaters. Install, trouble shoot, maintain and repair drinking fountains and water coolers. Serviced stopped drains and sewer lines. Assist contract labor technicians in trouble-shooting systems. Inspect and verify the performance and safety of all plumbing systems. Perform acceptance inspections of new constructions and renovations of plumbing systems. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, and practice safe working habits. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
