Volunteer Coordinator - Hospice

Position Description

Education and Experience:

Associates Degree in human services such as psychology, social work, education, marketing or related field of study preferred.

Work experience in appropriate fields may be considered as substitute for degree.

A minimum of one year experience in organizational work, marketing or related field.

Additional experience as a volunteer in health and human services helpful.

Requirements:

Must have a current GA Driver's license and current valid automobile insurance coverage.

Must have strong communication skills and be able to meet and communicate professionally with the public, as well as have the skills necessary to communicate effectively with the terminally ill and their families.

Will be expected to respond to patient and family concerns with sensitivity and compassion.

Must be able to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Needs to possess marketing skills necessary for recruitment and retention of volunteer group.

Successful candidate will demonstrate self-motivation, strong organizational skills and be flexible and adaptable.

Basic knowledge of medical terms, disease process, grief process and their relationship to psychosocial needs.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands are moderate, requiring long periods of time sitting or standing.

Some lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.

Ability to work under stressful conditions necessary as will be working with terminally ill and their families.

Will be visiting patient's home in various conditions with possible exposure to blood, body fluids and infectious disease.

Must have ability to work a flexible schedule and travel extensively, at times in unpleasant weather.
