We are looking for someone to join our team who is inspired by our mission to be a vibrant, sustainable, and resilient college that impacts the world. The Annual Giving Manager position is incredibly dynamic with the opportunity to build on annual giving, leadership annual giving and stewardship strategies that utilize direct mail, text, email, social media and building a monthly sustainer program.

As the Annual Giving and Stewardship Manager, you will play a critical role in growing one of the largest annual giving programs at the University of Minnesota, with 4,500 annual gifts and more than $2M raised annually; and which encompasses the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Medical Center, and The Raptor Center (TRC). Your work will be in collaboration with the Development team, University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) annual giving staff, and college leadership. The CVM Development team embraces new ideas and perspectives as we raise philanthropic support for our vision and focus areas. This position also plays a critical role in CVM's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts as we aim to remove barriers of connections to the veterinary field.

Essential FunctionsAnnual Giving Program Development and Management - 45%Create and implement an annual giving strategy that supports the individual giving pipeline, and meets or exceeds annual goals, including building a monthly sustainer programCollaborate with staff, UMF Annual Giving and digital teams on implementation of annual giving appeals (direct mail, email, text, social media)Collaborate with department development officer to support programmatic priority areas through targeted annual giving micro-campaignsCollaborate with UMF to become an expert at requesting queries to maximize annual giving reachCollaborate with development, communications and marketing (advancement team) staff staff to maximize visibility and collaboration that support the college's fundraising strategic planOversee Give to the Max Day Campaign, and other crowdfunding initiativesServe as a contact and collaborator when partnering with the University of Minnesota Foundation's Leadership Annual Giving Team on special initiativesDonor Relations, Stewardship, and Events - 40%Serve as the primary contact for annual fund donorsDevelop and execute a comprehensive system of donor recognition, including:Partnering with the development team on donor engagement, stewardship and recognitionProviding timely gift acknowledgement through the Acknowledgement 2.0 Donor Dashboard, and through personalized letters and communication from leadersA systematic process for generating and sending stewardship and gift impact reports to donorsIdentify annual giving donors with potential to become mid-level to major gift donors, coordinating with development teamWith other advancement team members, collaborate and provide support for key development eventsDevelop donor engagement plans for aspiring major gift prospects that maximize events, unique opportunities and partnerships (onsite, virtual)Assist and lead in developing and executing donor recognition events and activities, in collaboration with the advancement teamCarry a portfolio of 10-15 leadership annual donor prospects, coordinating strategies for in-person meetings, events and other activities to move prospects through cultivation stagesData Management and Analysis - 10%Collaborate with UMF partners to utilize annual giving data to support development goalsCommitment to the maintenance and integrity of the Donor Management System (DMS) development database.File timely donor contact reports in (DMS)Effectively and efficiently leverage data on annual giving to drive decision making and strategy.Work in collaboration with partners at UMF including the prospect research partnerOther Duties as Assigned (5%)Hours40 hours per week; full-time. Primarily Monday-Friday, but could require occasional weekends or evenings for special events. This is a hybrid eligible position with the ability to work remotely 1-2 days a week, subject to the units' needs following the completion of the probationary period.

Salary Range: $67k-$75.5K

Qualifications

Required:Bachelors' degree plus four (4) years of progressive experience in advancement, development or alumni relations.Excellent written communication skillsExperience with project managementRequires occasional attendance at some weekend and evening events.Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office or similar computer software. (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point)Experience in, and an ongoing commitment to, a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; working effectively with and across diverse communities: e.g. people of color, underrepresented groups; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and first-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds

About the Department

The University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) was established in 1947 and serves as the sole program training veterinarians in Minnesota. The College of Veterinary Medicine has provided the professional educational foundation for more than 5,000 veterinarians and nearly 1,000 scientists in the DVM and graduate programs throughout a rich 75-year history of animal health leadership. Serving a broad mission of improving the health of animals, people, and the environment, CVM faculty seek new knowledge through clinical and translational research and conduct ground-breaking studies in the areas of infectious disease, biomedical and genomic research, food systems and security, and environmental and ecological health.

The CVM ranks sixth in the U.S. among veterinary programs and eleventh globally, as measured by QS World Rankings. Our Veterinary Medical Center, which includes three veterinary hospitals and an ambulatory equine practice, supports more than 33,000 patient visits annually, enabling training of veterinary students, interns, and residents and supporting clinical research. The state's official animal health laboratory, the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, also resides within the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Additionally The Raptor Center (TRC), established in 1974, is part of the CVM .

TRC is first and foremost a hospital for ill and injured raptors, caring for over 1,000 birds annually. As an internationally renowned veterinary teaching hospital, TRC trains students and professionals from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine and conservation and conducts multi-disciplinary ecosystem health research. TRC has a substantial education and outreach program to educate and inspire the public. Using raptor ambassador birds, TRC's education team uses innovative methods to reach over 150,000 people annually through a variety of programming at on and offsite venues and through virtual technology. All of this work is done with the assistance of a cohort of more than 300 volunteers.Benefits
