Role Summary:

The Laboratory Operations Associate helps oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory and interfaces closely with the facilities group. This role performs lab services, maintenance, dock services, and assists in performing corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment/materials and stock/inventory maintenance. This role works cross functionally with all departments to ensure the laboratory is operating smoothly and in compliance with all health and safety standards. This role provides operational support by focusing on managing consumable inventory, procurement, inbound/outbound freight, and vendor management. The person in this role brings an understanding of building design/layout, MEP operations, lab operations, and a general knowledge of health and safety regulations. The person in this role participates in process improvement efforts and makes recommendations to promote efficiencies and applies a proactive approach to potential operational/environmental hazards/risks.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Manages laboratory consumables, procurement and organizationConducts daily rounds, safety inspections, and document equipment readingsMaintains all pressurized gases, tank changes and procurementResponsible for critical laboratory equipment remote alarm monitoring systemPerforms general maintenance tasks: moving materials or equipment, hanging signage and minor repairsResponsible for shipping, receipt and distribution of packages and equipment including temperature sensitive materialsSupports disposal of biohazardous material, chemical waste, sharps, and other potentially hazardous materials according to regulationsRoutinely interacts with facilities, laboratory personnel, and EHS consultantsParticipates in management of all laboratory assetsComplies with all applicable codes, regulations, and corporate policies/procedures related to the building operations and EHS standardsMaintains electronic and/or paper record keepingEscorts vendors and contractorsResponds to laboratory corrective/reactive work orders according to proceduresParticipate in process improvements and make recommendations to promote facility and lab operations efficiencies

Education and Skills Requirements:Minimum of an associate's degree with 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a clinical-stage biotechnology companyIntuitive mechanical ability to problem solve and generate successful conclusions for the laboratory environmentSelf-starter demonstrating initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in an independent and organized mannerUnderstanding and implementation of various lab environments and safety levelsProven ability to be highly productive in a fast-paced work environment with excellent attention to detailAbility to respond to common inquiries from co-workers, and/or supervisorAdaptive, highly collaborative individual with a strong passion for learning who will thrive in a fast paced and service facing roleExcellent communication skills, both oral and written; must be able to manage time and priorities efficientlyCapable of clear and timely communicationAbility to maintain a constructive working relationship with all staff, vendors, and co-workersAble to handle multiple projects while demonstrating task completion, documentation and communicationExperience with lab equipment management and maintenancePrioritization of environmental health and safety for all usersAbility to lift 50 lbs. or more if requiredDOT, IATA, RCRA and/or waste water Level 1 certifications preferredAbility to work off hours, weekends, holidays as needed
