The department comprises several operational units including Retail, Customer Systems and Data Analysis, Marguerite (the shuttle service), Transit Demand Management, Bicycles, Communications, and Parking Operations. Parking Operations is responsible for maintaining over 18,000 parking spaces across Stanford's historic main campus and the Stanford Redwood City Campus, distributed across more than 100 lots, six multi-level underground garages, and five above-ground garages. Additionally, the department manages 200 electric vehicle charging stations and event parking. Parking enforcement utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to manage and enforce parking efficiently.Job Purpose:This position is tasked with leading, planning, and administering various programs, including Parking Lot Maintenance, Parking Enforcement, and Event/Reserved Parking. This role involves collaboration with university departments, the Department of Public Safety, campus representatives, and students on strategic parking initiatives. Additionally, the position focuses on maintaining operational efficiencies, with a strong emphasis on quality service and impact mitigation.This position is an onsite position and is eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of 6 months.Core Duties:Plans and coordinates a variety of special administrative projects and assignments.Ability to analyze parking utilization to understand the balance of parking supply and demand, enabling data-driven decisions that meet the parking needs of the Stanford Community.Represents the Department in select working groups, committees, and partnerships, both internal and external to the University.Responsible for hiring, discipline, and termination of administrative personnel.Ensures customer service for the entire parking operations team and campus community.Provides leadership and management of the Parking Enforcement, Parking Maintenance, and Event Parking operations.Manages employee scheduling, work assignments, communication, and personnel development. Evaluates employee performance, gives regular feedback, and conducts annual performance reviews.Monitors work activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Manages workflow and productivity of personnel to ensure that the needs of the department and campus community are met.Has knowledge of the Department, its employees, and how the department functions.Engages in problem-solving for organizational issues; makes recommendations for efficiencies and advancement.Renews job knowledge by reading professional journals, participating in education opportunities, and belonging to professional organizations.Through direct individual efforts of the Director of Operations and proactive management of direct reports, develop and maintain an effective service leadership team that plans for the department's operational, budgetary, service level expectations, and resource needs.Work with individual units' leaders within the department to develop goals, objectives, and strategies.Conduct quarterly reviews of the strategic and operational planning goals with the individual units and their managers/directors.Develops and provides key performance indicators reporting monthly.Review budget impacts of strategic planning goals as part of the annual budget process.Manages third party contracts and vendors.Working closely with other department and campus partners, leadership, and student leaders on the following:Ensure parking service programs are developed and implemented to support high customer service expectations.Advise on the campus strategic and master parking planning.Develop customer-oriented services. Working with oversight and advisory committees ensures proper transparency regarding parking policies and operations.Serve as the campus representative on community groups as requested by Stanford Transportation Leadership.

*Other duties may also be assignedEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in business, Public Administration, or a related field, supplemented with an additional five years of relevant professional experience, including at least five years in a managerial role overseeing exempt-level employees.
