Job DescriptionesVolta is an innovative industry leader in development, design, construction, financing, and management of utility scale energy storage projects. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and commercially minded Senior Corporate Counsel with extensive experience in energy project development to partner with our Development and Finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and support the development of complex large-scale battery energy storage projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, financing, and handover to construction and asset management.Partner with the Development team to negotiate agreements related to power purchase or other offtake, transmission interconnection, real estate and site control, and third-party technical consultants.Support or manage due diligence and closing deliverables for project and portfolio acquisitions, tax equity, preferred equity, and debt financing transactions, and support compliance with IRS Investment Tax Credit requirements, financial covenants, and company policy.Establish professional relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts within and outside the Company, including leading or serving on committees, industry trade organizations, special projects, or other assignments.Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and market drivers to facilitate proactive decisions relating to project development.Manage outside counsel to maximize efficient and cost-effective representation in alignment with project budgets.Assist in developing and implementing company legal policies, processes, and standards related to the development function, including providing trainings, standard operating procedures, and templates or forms.

Skills and Qualifications

Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (JD) from an accredited law school.6-10 years of experience practicing law.Licensed to practice law in the United States, with a preference for California, New York, or Texas.Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to provide clear recommendations for executive action and decision-making.Strong leadership skills with a keen ability to lead others, including other employees in legal department.Solid understanding of energy project implementation and standards.Seasoned, prudent legal and business judgment, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.Outstanding people skills, including an ability to

promote collaboration and build consensus .Proven effective negotiation skills.Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and accountability, as well as the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Compensation and LocationCompensation:The anticipated annual salary plus bonus range for this position is listed below. The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.

Title: Sr. Corporate Counsel

Salary: $210,000 - $220,000

Bonus: 30%

Location

Flexible, option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach.
