DescriptionYour north star: design, build, configure, integrate, deploy, and maintain the systems and tools needed to defend Children's National and our patients, families, and staff against cyber attacks.Position summaryThe Sr. Information Security Engineer will protect Children's National by continually reviewing our security posture, identifying gaps and enhancements to close those gaps. We are seeking a dynamic engineer who excels at taking ownership over challenges and implementing novel solutions. She or he is a doer who is equally comfortable overseeing partners, mentoring junior staff, influencing colleagues, and rolling up his/her sleeves and executing.QualificationsMinimum EducationBachelor's Degree in a computer science, math, engineering or another relevant discipline (Required)Minimum Work Experience5 years experience in cybersecurity with a focus on architecture or engineering (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeKnowledge of relevant security technologies and architectural best practices.Experience selecting, deploying, integrating, and tuning a wide array of security technologies and solutions, preferably in a healthcare organization.Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to communicate information risk-related concepts to technical as well as nontechnical audiences.Familiarity with architectural solutions to meet compliance requirements, including but not limited to: Sarbanes-Oxley, payment card industry standards, HIPAA/HITECH, global data privacy requirements, as well as state and federal regulations.Functional AccountabilitiesCore areas of responsibility that fall under this role include:Analyzing attack vectors and developing solutions for emerging threats.Managing the trade-offs between adding tools to the security technology stack and improving the tuning and configuration of existing tools.Owning the cybersecurity implementation projects and identifying requirements needed to meet our security and risk management objectives.Staying abreast of emerging security technologies and integrating them into security architecture as needed.Tracking current and emerging security threats and designing security solutions to mitigate them.Ensuring alignment between security architecture frameworks and standards and overall business strategy.Coordinating with business units, and across other stakeholders (including technology, legal, risk, compliance, and privacy, and ecosystem partners) to assess, implement, integrate, and tune security technologies.Buy v. build and benefit cost analysis.To be successful in this role you will need to be:A team player who excels at supporting colleagues and focusing on shared results.An innovator who knows what it takes to execute and has a history of setting and meeting ambitious goals.A highly dependable "doer" who can work with little supervision while being resilient to change.A good listener who can check your ego at the door, allowing you to receive and provide candid feedback and criticism.Kind.An individual of high personal integrity who is able to act calmly in high-pressure and high-stress situations.Organizational AccountabilitiesAnticipate and respond to customer needs; follow up until needs are met.Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior.Partner with all team members to achieve goals.Receptive to others' ideas and opinions.Contribute to a positive work environment.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change.Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes.Make appropriate decisions, using sound judgment.Use resources efficiently.Search for less costly ways of doing things.
