In each of these realms, we affirm our commitment to developing leaders and evidence-based solutions, and to working in partnership with communities to promote health and well-being in ways that are innovative, respectful, and inclusive.Position SummaryReporting to the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration, the Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Programs, and when necessary the Dean, the position is responsible for leadership and direction of the Academic and Staff Human Resources for the Fielding School of Public Health. The Director is responsible and accountable for ensuring that human resources services are performed effectively and provided on a timely basis. The Director will identify methodology, develop and implement procedures, create the organizational structure, train supervisory and operating personnel, and establish controls which permit timely monitoring and auditing of tasks to ascertain the effectiveness of personnel and procedures which support human resources services. The Director provides expert consultation and direction on school-wide human resources issues, including interpretation and application of University policies and procedures as they relate to academic and staff employee actions.Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. (Required)Demonstrated experience developing short-term and long-term goals for a large multi-function unit. (Required)Demonstrated experience in UC grievance process, factfinders and arbitration. (Required)Experience working in higher education, with faculty and senior administrators, with a preference for experience in academic public health. (Required)Demonstrated experience creating/developing databases (Preferred)Ability to work independently with conflicting demands, time-sensitive deadlines, frequent interruptions and/or distractions. (Required)Demonstrated skill in negotiation (i.e., exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to arrive at decisions or recommendations that best serve the issue at hand, and the School). (Required)Skill in working as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and ability to interact with persons of various cultural, economic and educational backgrounds in a friendly and effective manner. (Required)Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information to individuals at various organizational levels. (Required)Demonstrated skill in analyzing and clearly communicating information, problems and issues. (Required)Demonstrated knowledge of Academic-Year schools pay periods and service quarters, defined start and separation dates, and summer ninths. (Required)Ability to research, analyze, compile and present data in a clear concise manner. Organizational skills to ensure that assignments are completed in a timely manner.
