Schedule:
Monday - Friday 0730-1630. Typical shifts will be scheduled for 9 hours with a 1-hour non-paid lunch. HCW will in no circumstance exceed 40 billable hours per week. Schedule adjustments may be required for patient care at the discretion of the leadership of the Pain Management

Responsibilities
The duties for the HCW are as follows but not limited to:Initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.Complete assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information.Observe, identify, and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing, and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure.Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction. Knowledge of interpersonal relationships and the ability to maintain composure and react appropriately while relating to patients, families, physicians, coworkers and ancillary staff; manage distraught, irritable, unreasonable or angry individuals; and maintain positive rapport with all individuals involved in patient care.Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders and conditions as appropriate and seen in critically ill patients (e.g., Ventilator Associated pneumonia and the VAP bundle, Sepsis, and ARDS).Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of critically ill patients. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to the critical care unit population to include all ages from adult to geriatrics.Assess patients' conditions for potential or life-threatening crises. Distinguish between normal and abnormal physical findings (from physical assessment and vital sign assessment). Plan appropriate nursing care. Notify physician if needed and carry out appropriate interventions as ordered.Identify impending or existing emotional or psychiatric crisis and provide appropriate intervention.Ability to react with alertness and skill in any emergency situation, (e.g., cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe physical trauma and psychiatric reaction). Serves as member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and Code Blue resuscitation/response team.Reassess patient's condition and revise plan of care based on identified nursing problems.Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.Implement the Nursing process (assessment, planning, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation) to include holistic approach.Effectively communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.Obtain patient history, pertinent family history, and document in patient's medical record.Utilize appropriate nursing personnel to assist in delivery of care when indicated (Licensed Practical Nurse's/paraprofessionals).Qualifications
Degree/Education:
Certificate. Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support:
The HCW shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. In addition to certification requirements in CPR and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Member must present proof of current certification(s) through American Health Association or American Red Cross. Computerbased training does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements. Must maintain currency at NO cost to the government. Must be certified to place IV (intravenous) catheters and present proof of certification.Experience:
Three year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.Licensure/Registration:
For positions involving patient care, candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted Registered Nursing license to practice nursing in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
