Job Description:The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) at the State University of New York at Oneonta is eager to welcome a Data Analyst to enrich our team. This position is centered on the strategic gathering, organizing, and reporting of university data. In collaboration with key stakeholders like the Office of Information Technology, the Data Analyst will enhance best practices for data centralization, supporting the university's commitment to excellent student services. The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative problem solver with expertise in data analytics, the ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines, pay close attention to detail, and maintain the accuracy and integrity of data. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and reliable data, insightful analysis, and evidence-based research that inform and guide the university's planning efforts to achieve its vision, mission, and long-term goals.To learn more about the University and the Office, please visit https://suny.oneonta.edu/ or https://suny.oneonta.edu/institutional-researchDuties include but are not limited to:Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Institutional Research, utilize current technology and enterprise data systems, including Banner, to support institutional research needs, governmental compliance, and reporting requirements.Complete and automate routine data tabulation and reporting tasks to fulfill internal and external requests of commonly reported performance data such as enrollment, retention, diversity, and completion rates.Assist in supporting data needs for initiatives across the University.Salary: $55,151. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeExperience with statistical analysis software (i.e. R, SAS, SPSS, etc.)Experience with descriptive statistics and large data sets.Manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities.Strong communication and organization skills.Strong attention to detail, flexible and able to work well independently.Preferred:Familiarity with federal reporting (IPEDS), state reporting (NYSED).Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, MS Power BI, or other data visualization tools.Ability to organize, analyze and summarize data and information for multiple audiences. Extensive analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.Experience working with and extracting data from a student information system (Banner Preferred).Experience working with and serving diverse populations.Additional Information:SUNY Oneonta enrolls about 5,500 students who pursue bachelor's or master's degrees or certificates in one of 70-plus academic programs.
