Litehouse is hiring an R&D Commercialization Specialist to join our team. This position is open to candidates in Lowell, MI & Danville, VA.

This position supports the set-up, on-site plant testing, and accuracy of current and new experimental products within the commercialization process. This position facilitates the transfer of formula/recipe ingredient details, processing instructions, and required product knowledge as required to support the successful manufacturing of existing and new food products. Conducts experimental production trials to validate manufacturing settings and transfer knowledge of products to Manufacturing. Provides knowledge feedback of experimental formula equipment/processing impacts and process engineering solutions to the R&D formula development group in order to provide greater visibility, repeatability and success in future experimental formulas development and systems set-up. Provides ongoing operational support to trouble shoot and implement corrective actions necessary for operational success of all products manufactured by the Company. Additionally, these functions are in support of the entire organization, including all R&D business channels and/or possible manufacturing locations. In essence, this position is the implementation arm within R&D which communicates and enacts the technical and product development activities to the rest of the organization.

What you will doAccomplish the documentation process and resulting generated information flow from plant/equipment testing, via written reports and updated R&D databases, to effectively communicate manufacturing adjustments, update historical records, and standardize implemented manufacturing procedures across all operations facilities and within R&D department.Conduct on-site plant trial of both new and revised product formulations to confirm experimental formula set-up, equipment settings, and general process flow thus creating acceptable commercialized version which maintains all the sensory parameter (flavor, color, and texture) required. Additionally, once a product is released to Operations for commercial production to provide the necessary technical support required for operational success in manufacturing all products produced by Litehouse, Inc.Conduct post-plant trial product attribute validation testing of manufacturing made products to verify minimal sensory and stability requirements as defined by the product type and project requirements.Coordinate and ensure proper control samples are present at plant testing for validation comparisons when conducting plant trials.Troubleshoot manufacturing technical hurdles via creating and implementing technical solutions associated with newly developed and/or legacy formulations using effective technical knowledge and sound scientific principles.Run Batch Automation software validation testing in order to confirm proper sequencing of pumps, valving, and mill settings as required to replicate and transfer equipment automaton settings to manufacturing facility in order to streamline process flow, create in-specification stable products, and minimize downtime otherwise required during on-site product/equipment troubleshooting and set-up.Assume the liaison role between all Operations facilities and R&D, which includes being physically present at off-site facilities as necessary to provide technical support as required for Operational success. As well as with internal Litehouse departments such as Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Marketing, to align and streamline execution of activities required to successful execute upon R&D projects.Support the implementation of new software and procedural changes, as identified by management, to streamline formula set-up and technical communications between manufacturing facilities.Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (A.S./B.S.) in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry or similar agricultural scientific discipline preferred.4+ years experience in Research and Development, Operations, and/or Plant Engineering, preferably in food industry.4+ years experience effectively using mechanical processes to generate stable emulsions and a working knowledge with emulsion systems and their component attributes; including flavor, texture/rheology, and visual components - color and particulate, with respect to the mechanisms of emulsification preferred.Previous experience using ERP systems (like ROSS) or other mainframe-based computer systems preferred.Proven track record of successful plant trouble shooting and managing multiple technical projects at one time, with successful technical solutions implementation and budget management required.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on advanced SharePoint, Excel and Word utilization.Ability to read and write correspondence and use basic technical/scientific terminologyMust have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently in the common language.Demonstrated understanding of basic mathematics and more advanced mathematical concepts, including computing rates, ratios and percentages, and constructing, analyzing and interpreting information graphically.Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
