Roll Tender:

Assures continuous feed of paper into a web press with least interruption or
slowdown.
Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares and mounts paper rolls at infeed end of press, makes all splices,
records used and unused paper. Removes butt cores.
  1. Changes ink and maintains levels during run.
  2. Mixes fountain solutions at correct pH.
  3. Assists in hanging plates, webbing up and wash-ups.
  4. Fill out skid flags properly; moves skids as needed.
  5. Follows all SOP's and work instructions.
  6. Operates forklift trucks, core straightener, hand jacks and scales.
  7. Assist with press set-up, maintenance and jogging when necessary.
  8. Learns the Second Press Operator duties and responsibilities and fills in as







needed.
  1. Replaces press rags and solutions, as needed.
  2. Cleaning press area during and at end of shift
  3. Adhere to quality and environmental policies, procedures,


goals, and objectives and comply with all safety and work rules when
performing duties.
  1. Complete and maintain all required checklists, paperwork, records,
documents, etc. and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Requirements:
Educational background equivalent to a high school diploma or general education
diploma, or a combination of education and experience.
Work generally requires 3 months of experience in a printing plant as a press
assistant or press helper.
Ability to perform duties and tasks required by applicable Standard Operating
Procedures and Work Instructions.
