In this position, you will manage the Company's tax provision, cash tax forecast, Federal/International income tax compliance, and tax audit. Prepare income tax memoranda to document the Company's tax positions. Monitor tax law changes and support the senior tax manager in developing tax-saving strategies. Implement automation solutions to reduce manual processes. Provide training and career development guidance to tax analysts.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, working at our Minneapolis office Monday through Wednesday, and the balance from home/remote. There will also be periodic travel to our Fargo, ND office.

Role & Responsibility

Tax Accounting

  • Prepare/review tax provision, tax entry, deferred inventory schedule, uncertain tax position, valuation allowance, tax footnote, and tax accounts roll forward schedules. 
  • Respond to the internal finance team and external auditor's requests to support a smooth close of quarterly and annual audit reviews.
  • Prepare cash tax forecast calculation.
  • Monitor tax department SOX control process and review completeness of supporting documentation.

Federal and International Tax Compliance

  • Manage the data collection for Federal and International tax compliance. Perform detailed analysis to ensure data accuracy.
  • Prepare/review Federal and International income tax work papers and returns, including but not limited to forms 1120, 1118, 5471, 5472, 8858, 8991,8992, and 8993.
  • Prepare/review the quarterly/monthly Federal and International estimated tax payments.
  • Manage the Federal and International income tax audits and prepare/review the response to tax notices.
  • Perform periodic review of the Company's current tax accounting method and tax-sensitive accounts to ensure the Company complies with the updated tax rules. Search for tax saving opportunities through tax accounting method changes.

Strategy and Guidance

  • Monitor tax law changes. Recommend tax-saving strategies to reduce the Company's overall effective tax rate. Prepare scenario analysis to assist management in business decisions.
  • Prepare/review tax due diligence documentation on acquisitions and reorganizations.
  • Collect Company data to support the preparation of annual transfer-pricing documentation; monitor compliance with the Company’s transfer- pricing policy.
  • Monitor company intercompany transactions to ensure US withholding tax is adequately calculated and remitted.
  • Prepare E&P calculation to support the Company’s distribution plan.
  • Manage Federal R&D credit documentation and calculation.

Staff Management

  • Manage and develop direct report through coaching, training, and mentoring, and making sure that team members have the tools required to perform effectively and efficiently.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Master’s Degree in Taxation, Accounting or MBA preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 5-8+ years’ corporate Federal tax experience and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge in Federal income tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in major corporate tax preparation software. Experience with CCH Axcess is a plus.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting principles.
  • Oracle ERP system experience preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency with strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Travel Standard: 25%.
