Company Overview: U.S. Spice Mills is a major supplier of pure spices in the U.S. food industry since 1986. We are proud to provide high quality spices to large food producers of national brands that you know and love. As we continue to grow and expand, we are looking for a dedicated Quality Manager to join our quality team and ensure that our products meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Product Quality: Ensure that all products meet or exceed company and customer specifications and meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Food Safety Protocols: Implement and maintain food safety protocols, including Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity. Oversee Foreign Supplier Verification Program to ensure that imported raw products meet the US FDA required food safety standards.
  • Adhere to SQF Requirements: Ensure full compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification requirements, including audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Quality Control Team: Effectively manage and mentor the Quality Control team, providing ongoing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure optimal team performance.
  • Conduct Regular Inspections: Perform routine inspections of raw materials, production processes, and finished products to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Develop and Update SOPs: Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams address quality concerns promptly.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Issues: Investigate and resolve non-conformance issues, including customer complaints, deviations, and product recalls, by implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Oversee Quality Documentation/Audits: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and compliance documentation and represent company during internal and external audits.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality, food safety, and team performance. Willing to take on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Job-specific Competencies:

  • Strong experience in leading quality control/assurance teams within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in spice manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA/USDA) & quality standards (SQF/HACCP/GMP/FSVP/PCQI).
  • Ability to assess issues and risks and promptly provide and implement sound recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
