Supplier Quality Engineer:

SUMMARY: Support and maintain the quality system, focusing on supplier and incoming quality, by utilizing engineering tools and methodologies. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth production, design, and development of regulated products within a hybrid work environment. The role will involve both on-site and remote work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and the purchasing team to address and resolve quality issues related to raw materials and components.
  • Maintain approvals and certifications for suppliers.
  • Review and manage supplier quality agreements.
  • Apply statistical techniques and tools such as risk analysis, Gage R&R, Cpk, ANOVA, and DOE for quality assessment and improvement.
  • Use problem-solving methods including Cause & Effect diagrams, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root-Cause Analysis, 5-Why, and 8D for quality issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough quality records.
  • Conduct corrective actions and non-conformance assessments.
  • Perform and lead supplier audits as well as internal quality audits.
  • Support incoming inspection processes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Review and assess work instructions, quality plans, FMEAs, specifications, drawings, and quality systems to identify and analyze trends.
  • Lead and participate in continual improvement projects.
  • Travel up to 25% may be required for supplier support and audit activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with suppliers, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Experience with supplier audits and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems standards such as ISO 13845, ISO 9001, or AS9100.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in record-keeping.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.
  • CQA or certified biomedical auditor certification is beneficial but not required.
