Carpenter

The Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects. The Carpenter will interpret drawings and proceed with the demolition and layout of walls and ceilings, install new partitions, including metal studs, blocking, and drywall, and ensure that any partitions are rated appropriately through the correct application of fire-stopping materials. Additional responsibilities include the installation of hollow metal frames for windows and doors, hanging doors, installing the appropriate hardware for variously rated assemblies, and installing metal ceiling grids with the appropriately rated tiles. The Carpenter will also assist in painting drywall and installing finish fixtures such as paper towel holders, mirrors, soap dispensers, vinyl handrails, wall guards, and other items as required.

• Interpret drawings for demolition and layout of walls and ceilings.
• Install new partitions, including metal studs, blocking, and drywall.
• Ensure partitions are appropriately rated through correct fire-stopping material application.
• Install hollow metal frames for windows and doors.
• Hang doors and install appropriate hardware for rated assemblies.
• Install metal ceiling grids and appropriately rated tiles.
• Assist with painting drywall and installing finish fixtures (e.g., paper towel holders, mirrors, soap dispensers, vinyl handrails, wall guards).
• Utilize hand and power tools for construction, repair, maintenance, and design assistance.

• Education/Experience

  Graduate of a trade or vocational program with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, carpentry, and woodworking, or a minimum of five (5) years' experience in the trade.

  
  

• Skills/Abilities

  Must be able to construct, repair, maintain, and assist in the design of facilities, outbuildings, and equipment. Taping and painting skills are strongly desired. Metal stud and drywall experience is preferred.

  
  

The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $20.67 to $31.00 per hour. The exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis, commensurate with experience level, education, and certifications.
