Purchasing Agent

Summary:
Involved in coordinating and purchasing raw materials, parts, and supplies. Proficiency with local, global, and regional processes and procedures. Establish working relationships with existing suppliers.

Essential Functions:

• Performs the purchasing functions including preparation of purchase orders, change orders, and documents.
• Review material requisitions, evaluate quotes, and authorize purchases within budgetary and authority limits according to company-established and product-specific criteria.
• Evaluate part requirements to select the appropriate supplier from the existing vendors or recommend potential suppliers for review by others.
• Resolve discrepancies on purchase orders, requisitions, supplier deliveries, prices, and invoices, and troubleshoot issues relative to non-conforming goods with suppliers and appropriate company personnel
• Provide support to coworkers and perform other duties as assigned

• Manage purchase orders from placement through receiving and payment as required.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and perform all duties and responsibilities within established procedures and standards of ethical conduct
• Provide and maintain accurate and current information on order status.
• Research cost-saving opportunities
• Supports, cooperates with and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management Systems which includes following all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality management efforts
• Adheres to company department policies, procedures, and standards

• 3 years of professional purchasing experience in the industry is required; pump industry or machined parts experience is strongly preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Working for CPP certification or equivalent courses or programs
• Experience with computerized systems. SAP-MM experience is an asset.
• Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
