This role will be based on the selected job posting location.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Examine building plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and other regulationsIdentify discrepancies or violations and work with applicants to address and resolve themVerify that plans accurately depict the intended construction and that they meet local standardsPrepare written reports outlining findings and recommendations for plan revisionsCommunicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners to discuss plan revisions and code compliance issuesStay up to date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practicesProficiently operate a computerAbility to function in a high-stress environment, be a strong multi-tasker, and be a team playerAnswers client questions and assists them promptlyKnowledge and usage of proper format, grammar, spelling, and punctuationRegular attendance is requiredFollows safety proceduresOther duties may be assignedRequired Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the roleAbility to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)Strong knowledge of local building codes and regulationsState of Florida Building Plans Examiner licenseFamiliarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and plan review toolsAttention to detail and excellent analytical skillsAbility to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram formPreferred Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferredState of Florida Building Inspector LicensePrevious experience in an A/E/C firmWho We Are:UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
