Job Description

The Opportunity:The department is looking for a talented Paralegal for the Intellectual Property (IP) section of the Law Department having relevant experience with IP litigation and disputes involving trademarks, copyrights, and designs, including in connection with online brand protection. Experience with the copyright registration process and managing a portfolio of trademarks, copyrights, and designs, and domain names is a plus. The role requires outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute against multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, an eagerness and aptitude for learning, a strong work ethic, and a positive can-do attitude.

What Your Impact Will Be:

IP Dispute & Litigation Support

Research potential IP infringements as directed by attorneys

Conduct factual research related to ongoing IP litigation and provide summaries to attorneys

Review and organize evidence

Online Brand Protection & IP Enforcement

Identify counterfeits and IP infringements on online marketplaces around the world

Assist with developing IP enforcement strategies

Review and organize evidence from investigators and law firms regarding online counterfeiters

Assist with content protection and IP enforcement on social media channels, app stores, and in connection with emerging technologies

IP Portfolio Management

Assist with the registration of copyrights at the US Copyright Office and other copyright offices around the world

Work with other team members on trademark searches globally and management of Mattel’s trademark portfolio

General

Assist with managing the budget for IP section

Coordinate IP training with business teams

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:In addition to the skills and abilities identified in The Opportunity section above, we’re looking for --

ExperienceA minimum of three (3) years of experience as a trademark paralegal, administrator, or equivalent experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal team

Education/Professional Licensing:Undergraduate degree

Excellent organizational skills a must, including planning, prioritization, organization, and time management. Should also have meticulous attention to detail, as well as the ability to create and follow standardized practices and procedures.

The base hourly rate for this position is between $28.00 and $43.70.**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
