Mid-level Patent Agent

A mid-level Patent Agent position is available at the law firm in Kansas City. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The candidate should hold a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, with a preference for expertise in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security. Admission to the USPTO is a mandatory requirement for this role.Duties:Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities, focusing on electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to gather necessary information for patent applications.Draft and prosecute patent applications, respond to office actions and communicate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Provide technical and legal advice regarding patent portfolio development and strategy.Requirements:Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.Minimum of 4 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Detail-oriented with superb organizational skills.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Experience:Specialized experience in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering or software-related technologies.Expertise in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.Skills:Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
