When you join us, you have the opportunity to find both personal and professional fulfillment by aligning your career with your values.Residential Substance Abuse Counselors are responsible for:Preparing and facilitating group counseling sessions, educational programs, and lectures to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goalsConducting individual counseling to provide crises intervention, support & guidance, and address client behaviors and personal problemsDocumenting clients' progress and responses to treatmentMaintaining client records; ensuring records are complete, accurate, and up to dateMonitoring clients in medication self-administrationEnsuring client safety and well-beingMonitoring client behavior during social, recreational, or daily activitiesEnforcing house rulesScheduling, coordinating and transporting clients to appointments and maintaining the vehicleCollecting urine samples and administering breathalyzerOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:High school diploma or equivalency requiredMinimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling requiredRelated work experience with a program specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting requiredPhysical Requirements:Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide counseling.Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis.Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data on a regular basis.Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.Ability to drive an automobile or van; remain alert to traffic conditions, and to identify and comply with traffic signals and signsCompensation (based on experience and credentials):Range begins at $19.23- $24.00 per hourGateway Foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases.Benefits at Gateway Foundation:Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependentsEmployee wellness program promoting health and fitness and offering cash-saving premiumsEmployee assistance programs focused on mental health403(b) Retirement Plan with 3% employer matchShort-term and Long-term Disability and Life and AD&D Insurance paid for by GatewayFlexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent carePublic Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)Flexibility and Time Off:18 paid time off days per year - accrual rates increase with years of service9 paid company holidaysWork-life-balancePersonal Development:Training & Development ProgramsTuition Reimbursement - up to $5,250 per calendar yeareLearning access to online courses that provide CEU's and job-related trainingClinical Supervision: Formal and informal guidanceGateway Foundation is an Equal Opportunity Employer: Race/Color/Sex/Sexual Orientation/ Gender Identity/Religion/National Origin/Disability/Vets.
