Requires a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.Must be admitted to a recognized bar.Requires 10+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department with meaningful experience as a strategic advisor and collaborative business partner to senior leaders and Boards.Preferred experience with federal and state laws impacting health plans and payors (e.g., Affordable Care Act and ERISA); preferred experience with privacy and security laws (HIPAA and HITECH).Experience in federal contracting, non-profits and tax-exempt entities, including I.R.C. 501(c)(9) entities, preferred.Experience leading and managing legal projects as part of major organization initiatives either in a law firm setting or as in-house counsel.Demonstrated strategic agility with the ability to manage multiple complex projects, foresee challenges accurately, and plan accordingly.Demonstrated collaborative leadership and relationship-building skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships throughout the organization.Excellent issue identification, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including creative problem-solving.Strong ability to balance the need to deliver practical business advance while managing risk and legal obligations.Skills

Reviews, negotiates, and drafts large complex agreements while working with various functional and business partners across the organization to spot potential issues and work creatively and collaboratively towards a solution.Offers advanced and independent legal counseling to the organization, including Executives and Board members, relating to complex issues requiring state of the art industry knowledge.Works directly with outside legal counsel on complex issues and key strategic initiatives.Provides legal support in the development and delivery of new products and services.Develops best practices, including policies and procedures, for addressing emerging legal and business risks.Assumes a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization.Participates in major legal actions involving the organization.Works under the general supervision of the Deputy General Counsel and the Chief Legal Officer and exercises sound judgment on all matters requiring Legal attention.Work-at-home Requirements
