Position Summary / Career Interest:
Responsible for administering and monitoring anesthesia to patients during surgical and/or obstetrical procedures.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Assesses patients before anesthesia including analyzing medical history and planning anesthesia delivery.* Administers various types of anesthesia including inhalational, intravenous, regional anesthetics based on anesthetic plan. Performs any necessary invasive procedures including insertion of catheters.* Observes and records all patient functions being continuously monitored and evaluates need for ancillary drugs to maintain normal functioning.* Consults with staff anesthesiologist as necessary regarding patient condition.* Documents for patient record all relevant assessment, care, and monitoring data.* Ensures availability of required supplies and equipment before anesthetic procedure.* Educates patients, families and staff on anesthesia aspects related to conditions and diseases. Reassures patient before procedure. Accompanies to recovery area to ensure condition satisfactory.* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.* These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Required Education and Experience
* High School Graduate* Bachelor Degree Nursing* Completion of nursing school, graduate of anesthesia school* 2 or more years of nursing experience
Preferred Education and Experience
* 1 or more years Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Required Licensure and Certification
* Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - State Board of Nursing* Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Courses must be American Heart Association, American Red Cross or approved by the American Heart Association. They must also contain a skills check off as part of the course)* Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Courses must be American Heart Association, American Red Cross or approved by the American Heart Association. They must also contain a skills check off as part of the course)* Copy of the current license for the State of Kansas
