In this role, the focus will be driving sales growth within the public sector, including federal, state, and local government agencies. This individual will develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy, manage a high-performing sales team, and ensure the company achieves its revenue targets.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in selling technology solutions to the public sector, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the government procurement process.What you’ll do:Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets within the public sector.Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sales professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on results.Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding the company's presence in the public sector.Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers.Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth through direct sales, strategic partnerships, and effective account management.Sales Forecasting: Develop accurate sales forecasts and regularly report on sales performance against targets.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer success, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.Compliance: Ensure all sales activities comply with government regulations and company policies.What you’ll bring:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.10+ years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the public sector.Proven track record of success in selling technology solutions to government agencies.Deep understanding of government procurement processes and compliance requirements.Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.Ability to travel as needed.What success looks like:After six months, you will have:Successfully developed and started executing a comprehensive sales strategy tailored to the public sector, with clear short-term and long-term goals.Assessed the current sales team, identified strengths and gaps, and implemented a plan to build a high-performing team. This may include hiring new talent and providing coaching to existing team members.Ensured the sales pipeline for public sector opportunities has grown significantly, with new leads and opportunities being actively pursued.Established strong relationships with key government stakeholders, partners, and influencers, positioning the company as a trusted technology provider.Initial Wins: You have closed several key deals, contributing to the company’s revenue growth and building momentum for the team.After about a year, you will have:Met or exceeded the annual revenue targets for the public sector, demonstrating significant growth compared to the previous year.Ensured the sales team is fully optimized, with clear roles, responsibilities, and targets.
