General Summary of PositionInteracts directly with Client providers and leadership to ensure optimization of revenue cycle operations and reimbursement. Acts as the face of MedStar Physician Billing Services (MPBS) to all internal customers. Is the primary link between MPBS leadership and functional operations and MedStar Health clinical practices. Assists clients (at any level of the organization) to understand revenue cycle analytics and assists in developing solutions and improvements identified via analytic review. Brings individualized attention and specific billing operations management to the practices and builds the practice leaders trust in their unified billing operation by ensuring that operation performs optimally. Assists with updating and enhancing processes to ensure client focus is accurate and correct conclusions are shared while remaining compliant with all regulatory guidelines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Communicates with and alerts VP and AVPs to new issues, questions, to obtain advice and to request intervention, when appropriate.Ensures issues and concerns identified by MPBS Leadership and/or Client leaders are thoroughly researched and resolved in a timely manner.Exemplifies Guest and Associate Relations standards in all activities in areas of service, resource utilization, high quality outcomes and effective communication and holds associates accountable for conformity with those standards in all activities.Identifies and reports all MPBS processing and revenue impact cycle issues, as well as MPBS management and associate performance through regular meetings and communication with clinical practice/departmental chairs, administrators and MPBS liaison team.Identifies process improvement opportunities and generates support from all appropriate MPBS and Non MPBS resources to ensure suitable solutions.Maintains relationships with clinical and administrative leaders of entities/service lines and meets monthly or as needed.Monitors departmental accounts receivable trends by reviewing key performance indicators - including, but not limited to - GCR, NCR, rejection percentages, charge-lag, accounts receivable days outstanding.Participates in educational/professional development activities.Provides information, reference and referral service to client leaders concerning all aspects of the physician practice revenue cycle, to include but not limited to -- most current coding, billing and Third Party Regulatory Policies.Supervises Revenue Cycle Liaisons, providing guidance on matters related to support of clinical practices and revenue cycle as needed. Responsible for ongoing feedback and coaching of revenue cycle team. Coordinates and follows up on any and all related corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies and deviations from expected performance, to include but not limited to -- developing, facilitating implementation and monitoring compliance with policies/procedures.Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree preferably in health or business administration required.Master's degree in health or business administration preferred.Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience required.

Experience5-7 years of senior leadership experience in professional services revenue cycle management. Advanced training and experience in management of professional billing processes, comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience in professional billing revenue cycle operations including practice management and billing functions. Supervisory experience with multiple associate accountability. Reporting writing experience and skill required.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSpecific knowledge and use of professional billing information systems (IDX is most desirable); must possess and maintain expert knowledge of all systems utilized within the professional services revenue cycle, including the ability to work with clients to develop and advise on analytics and reports that help target and trend revenue cycle performance.Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This position has a hiring range of $93,142 - $166,795.
