Financing Group Coverage Banking

sits within a dynamic, market-driven environment. Our teams work closely with corporate clients, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments to structure and execute some of the largest and most complex financing and risk management solutions across the full product spectrum, including equity, debt, and derivatives. To achieve this goal, the Financing Group comprises all Goldman Sachs' capital markets departments and operates in close cooperation with other areas of Investment Banking and other divisions within the firm, including Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities, and Equities. Teams are organized by product groups including Leveraged Finance, Equity Capital Markets, Investment Grade, Structured Finance, Corporate Derivatives, Public Sector & Infrastructure, and Emerging Markets.

The

Public Sector & Infrastructure (PSI)

group provides underwriting and advisory relationships to state and local governmental entities, not-for-profit hospital and healthcare organizations, higher education organizations, public power and utility systems, transportation and mass transit agencies, sport franchises, and other public projects by assisting them in meeting their short-term and long-term financing needs. The group focuses on origination, structuring, and execution of a variety of municipal debt, derivative, project finance, and public-private partnership transactions across the U.S. The multi-functional group combines client coverage with product expertise, capital markets expertise, and deal execution.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

A PSI Analyst will be involved in many of the following activities:

Build proprietary financial models, including debt structuring, credit, and cashflow analysis in the public finance/municipal sector. Assist senior team in evaluating models to develop key judgments.Support senior banker in developing presentations for clients in the public finance/municipal sector on topics such as strategic alternatives, capital markets activities, debt structuring, and sector landscape views.Draft written responses to Requests for Proposals in the public finance/municipal sector, including information such as financial market research and analysis, marketing and distribution strategy, and financial structuring.Analyze public sector/municipal clients' exposure to a variety of financial markets, including interest rates and inflation, as well as determine the potential impact on clients' financial metrics, including debt service coverage, debt capacity, interest expense, and leverage.Support live deal execution in the public finance/municipal sector, including due diligence processes, drafting legal documents with lawyers and potential issuers, organizing, and attending deal and non-deal roadshows, and liaising with other investment banks and other parties within Global Banking & Markets.Analyze financial and regulatory statements, material event filings and documents, financial projections, and models as prepared in various formats by clients.Support client dialogue by liaising with senior bankers and product experts throughout the firm.

SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A keen, long-term interest in investment banking with a focus in public finance and fixed income.Demonstrated interest in finance, public policy, and politics.Drive, enthusiasm, creativity, and excellent interpersonal skills.Strong quantitative and technical abilities.An outstanding academic record. While not required, completion of coursework in finance, economics, and accounting can provide a valuable foundation for the Analyst position.Personal integrity, initiative, and leadership qualities.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to work as part of a team in an environment that demands excellence, time, and energy.

Salary RangeThe expected base salary for this Los Angeles, California, United States-based position is $110,000-$125,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
