We are seeking a

Director of Finance

to support our Equine and Health and Wellness business units within our Pet Segment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on contributor that will help deliver business objectives through leading financial planning, developing insight driven recommendations, and supporting operating excellence. The role interfaces with all levels of the organization to leverage the resources, expertise, and insights needed to achieve company objectives.

The role will report to the Pet Segment CFO but have a strong dotted line into the Equine and Health & Wellness General Managers. The role will directly manage one staff accountant and be supported by a finance and accounting shared services team.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Support company financial processes to include monthly close and forecast cycles, annual operating plan, and corporate-facing deliverables with associated analysis and presentation materials.

Employ insightful use of financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts to monitor, analyze and communicate variance drivers to BU leadership and recommend corrective action plan as appropriate.

Provide business-decision support for both ongoing analysis and the development of new opportunities including special projects as requested by division, business unit, or executive management.

Drive enhanced system reporting and analysis capabilities including reporting framework needed to support division strategic initiatives.

Build a strong partnership with cross functional teams across the BU's and develop key relationships across the company. Work collaboratively with shared services, operations, and other shared resources to build trust and maintain healthy working relationships.

Leverage a continuous improvement mindset to improve operational efficiency and proactively identify potential data, analytical, and reporting needs to support management and performance monitoring requirements.

Ensure businesses follow company accounting policies and controls in accordance with US GAAP. Maintain integrity of the monthly financial statements and provide quarterly analytics for audit and corporate compliance as needed. Develop and implement new financial policies and procedures as required to maintain adequate internal controls.

Development of a high performing team through recruitment, assessment, and development in finance and accounting. Support a culture of collaboration and valued business partnerships, which focuses on results.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

Bachelors is required; MBA, CPA, or CMA is a plus, but not required.

At least 10 years of experience in finance, accounting or a comparable position and at least 5 years in a finance role in consumer product, manufacturing, or distribution environment.

Understands financial statement mechanics (knows their way around a P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement) with a solid working knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Strong written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated computer skills, with proficiency using Microsoft Office and Hyperion. SAP experience is a plus.

Must be able to elicit cooperation and teamwork from a large network of people inside and outside of Finance.

Attention to detail without losing sight of the larger business perspective.

Effective at managing ambiguity. Must be proficient at making decisions without having the benefit of the total picture.

Proven track record of using analytics to lead the organization through business decisions.

Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to think creatively and come up with unique solutions to problems or needs.

Must have the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hybrid/Office environment

Up to 10% travel

POSITION INFORMATIONThis position pays $140,000 to $170,000 per year depending on experience and location.
