DescriptionThe Pediatrician is responsible for the comprehensive care of patients in the Children's Pediatrician & Associates practices, including appropriate documentation and reporting where required, supervision of assigned clinical and non-clinical staff, and participation in assigned administrative and quality improvement activities and regularly scheduled provider meetings.QualificationsMinimum EducationMedical Doctor (M.D.) (Required) or Medical Doctor (M.D.) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeKnowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise.Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.Demonstration of a personal commitment to Continuing Professional Development and ability to remain current on the developments and progress in primary care pediatrics.Knowledge of and compliance with legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.Required Licenses and CertificationsFully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children's National Medical Center.Completion of residency in pediatrics. Board eligible or board certification in general pediatrics by American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Association.Functional AccountabilitiesCommitment to World Class Care

Perform patient care, including examinations, tests, reports, procedures, and other functions accepted as part of the practice of medicine consistent with normally accepted standards of care.Perform complete physical examinations of each patient consistent with the normally accepted standard of care in the community.Analyze reports and/or findings of tests and personal examinations in order to assess the medical condition of the patient, including diagnosing his/her injury or illness and formulating a prognosis.Perform or supervise various invasive medical procedures that include, but are not limited to, the injection of medications, inoculations, and vaccinations.Prescribe medication and treatment for the patient and recommend appropriate physical and dietary routines and methods for prevention of disease and personal hygiene.Responsible for providing twenty-four (24) hours a day, three hundred sixty-five (365) days per year coverage of patient care needs for the location or locations where the Physician performs clinical services.Actively participate in family-centered care and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner; refer patients to specialists and to relevant ancillary services as appropriate.Documentation and Reporting

Appropriately document findings and procedures in the designated electronic medical record.Obtain and legibly record in the designated electronic medical record a detailed medical history of each patient.Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered.Provide timely reports of births, deaths, outbreaks of contagious diseases, and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities.Management and Administrative

Directly supervise nurses and other personnel in accordance with Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.Participate in the Company governance and management, credentialing, and peer review activities.Follow all policies and procedures of the Company and of any managed care organization with which the Company may contract.Perform other duties assigned by the Company that are commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a physician.Organizational Accountabilities
