Bioinformatics Analyst IPOSITION SUMMARY:The Ward Lab is looking for a bioinformatics analyst to assist in data processing for high-throughput structural biology workflows. This role works closely with lab staff to maintain and execute computational workflows in support of cryo-EM data collection and processing. This position's primary responsibility will be active data processing, taking images from electron microscopes and processing them through the entire pipeline from particle images to 3D structures in collaboration with stakeholders in the lab. They will also prepare standardized protocols and workflows for users in lab to reference, alongside testing and benchmarking of new methods and hardware.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Assist in design, maintenance, and deployment of computational workflows supporting the Ward Lab's cryo-EM systems.Provide support and insight to colleagues regarding use and troubleshooting of computational issues that arise during processing of cryo-EM data.Work closely with Staff Scientists to adapt and update existing data processing workflows.Survey literature for next-generation data processing techniques, and benchmarks effectiveness and applicability to cryo-EM workflows.Write documentation and protocols for workflows used by the lab.Contribute to development of new tools to be used by the lab.Work alongside groups of scientists to test and validate results.Perform other related duties as required or assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in bioinformatics, computational biology or computer science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.1-3 years of experience working in a lab environment, bioinformatic experience preferred.Experience with Python required.Experience with Linux and bash required.Experience with cryo-EM data processing software (RELION, cryosparc, etc.) preferred.COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $66,560 to $79,200 per year, commensurate with experience.
