The position of Executive Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs is responsible for overseeing Skydance’s Feature Film BA/LA and the negotiation and structuring of complex development, production, distribution, rights acquisition, and other deals. This executive position demands leadership experience, an excellent negotiation and business acumen, a strong legal background, a proven track record in the film/entertainment industry, an entrepreneurial spirit, and deep collaboration within the team and cross-functionally.Responsibilities

Oversee a high-performing, collaborative features BA/LA team and provide development opportunities, guidance, and mentorshipLead high-level negotiations and support next-tier dealmaking in all phases of development, packaging, production, distribution/licensing, and other facets of Skydance’s feature film business, including above-the-line talent, underlying rights, acquisition/distribution/licensing, partnership, and production services dealsCollaborate and consult with, advise, and guide senior management, producers, and other departments (including Creative, Physical Production, Marketing, and Finance)Review project budgets, financial projections, and other financial documentsHelp shape and implement legal and business policies and best practices in the purview of the Business & Legal Affairs department and streamline related operations and processesMaintain awareness of recent developments in the law, technology, and industry trends and practices as they relate to the development, production, and distribution of feature filmsShepherd risk management and legal issues, claims, and disputes related to feature film development, production, and/or exploitation (including intellectual property matters), in conjunction with Corporate Legal and external counsel as appropriate, to reach optimal resolutionRequirements

Management experience over a business affairs or a combined business and legal affairs department and an extensive deal pipeline through agreement executionExtensive experience in theatrical feature deals and other various deal modelsJD degree from an accredited law schoolMember in good standing of the State Bar of California (or another state)Excellent team-building, negotiation, analytical, and communication skillsStrong experience in and understanding of legal matters in the feature film business (intellectual property, contracts, industry practices, etc.)Ability to work in partnership with other departments and divisions of the company and to contribute to a collaborative work environment and cultureStrong organizational skills and attention to detailDeftness in managing and progressing multiple deals, projects, and prioritiesHigh performance and time and relationship management under intense deadlines and other pressuresThe salary for this position in Los Angeles is $500,000.00. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors.
