As part of our Camera Technologies group, you'll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last! You'll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we'll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras! The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who can help us with tomorrow's challenges. In this role, the candidate will drive the development of next-generation camera hardware and chipset architecture. This role requires broad EE, fundamental physics, and signal processing skills, algorithm and FW/SW interactions. You will work with cross-functional teams to model and define chipset architecture understanding key system level requirements, trade-offs, and optimization between different components on the system.
Description
Work cross-functionally to define and develop digital control, processing and functional capabilities for next generation camera sensors in support of innovative product features.Identify opportunities for advancement in camera systems aligned with emerging technologies and critical system constraints.Evaluate problem/solution space including system constraint discovery to identify creative architectural implementation approaches.Develop & drive chip level specifications through the implementation phase.Support bring-up and debug of initial silicon implementation including the development of optimized settings for key product level camera features.Represent new camera silicon in cross-functional forums in support of productization of sensor features across hardware, software and system, assessing feature and implementation trade-offs.Conduct hands-on analysis including data-path/algorithm, performance and power trade-offs to help define and refine our camera sensors.Participate and drive the advancement of our architectural exploration/development methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in EE, CE or CSKnowledgeable in hardware architecture and digital design principlesExperience leading development of novel features on image sensing devices or complex SoC/mixed-signal designs
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of relevant industry experienceAbility to drive and lead technical initiatives across distributed multi-disciplinary teamsDemonstrated background in silicon bring-up and debug, hardware-software system integration and final productizationExperience with modeling and simulating device/system designs to assess power/performance/area/bandwidth/latency trade-offsExperience in algorithm development and signal processing data-path designExperience in Matlab, C, Python or other programming/scripting languagesExperience in neural network processing hardware architecturesExcellent written and verbal communication skills and solid collaboration and leadership skills
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
