Position Description:The Director of Staff Development (DSD) provides leadership to the department ensuring the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization are supported through the actions of the staff and services of the neighborhoods/households. The DSD participates in planning, organizing, directing and facilitating the operations of the neighborhoods/households to ensure regulatory compliance, nurture a person-centered resident-directed culture, strengthens the ability of the neighborhoods/households to grow as effective homes, and promotes individual and team learning. May serve as Neighborhood/Household Coordinator in one of the homes along with responsibilities of the DSD.Qualifications:Possess a valid LVN or RN license to practice nursing in the state of California.Must have a Director of Staff Development Certificate.Prior experience in nursing (rehabilitative or geriatric), and nursing supervision.American Heart Association CPR and First Aid training.One year experience in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing. If coordinator does not possess this qualification, he/she will within six months of employment, receive ten (10) hours individualized consultation from RN who possess this requirement and/or complete 24 hour continuing education course by Board of Registered Nurses that is relevant to planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assures facility compliance to Title XXII for employee personnel records in coordination with Human Resources (72533), inservice education program (72517 & F497), staff development (72517), and maintain nursing personnel kardex.Oversees sixteen hours orientation for all newly hired licensed nurses, CNAs and NAs within first 40 hours of employment. Supervises clinical practices stressing good safety habits through use of good body mechanics. Assures orientation checklist completed and in file within one week of hire.Serves as First Responder Nurse (FRN) pertaining to all-campus employee work injuries.Assists charge nurses with completion of performance evaluations and participates in conducting the reviewing the employee.Assist other departments in completing portions of orientation related to HSC.Provide fire/safety, elder abuse and HIPAA orientation for newly hiredReview new training materials available and make recommendations for purchase.Assist in updating HSC Policy and Procedure Manual. Participate in establishing and improving standards of patient care.Provide CNA in-service opportunities monthly and as needed.Complete and send monthly inservice calendar to HSC team members.Maintain attendance records of all inservice programs and records of course description given to facility, presenter, objectives, and methods of teaching, outline of course, and method of evaluation.Serve as Facility Quality Assurance Coordinator and Infection Control Coordinator as assigned.Schedule CPR and first aid classes as needed for staff and residents.Participate in campus-wide Safety Committee and their training functions and serve as Safety Team Leader. Coordinate CNA, LVN, RN training programs clinical site assignments.Participate in continued education programs and other pertinent seminars for professional growth. Share new knowledge at regularly scheduled CNA and licensed staff meetings.Assist CNA staff issues as necessary.Pass medications as necessary.Job Type: Full-timePay: $79,000.00 - $83,000.00 per yearExperience:
